EUGENE, Ore. - Former Academy standout Paul Gensic, competing as a member of the Air Force World Class Athlete Program (WCAP), earned a sixth-place finish in the pole vault finals of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore., on Sunday, June 29. Competing at the historic Hayward Field, Gensic cleared 18'0½" to finish the competition in a three way tie for sixth.

In his first appearance at the Olympic Trials, Gensic tied with Jeremy Scott and defending Olympic Gold medalist Tim Mack, for sixth, as they all cleared their second attempt at the 18'0½" mark.

Derek Miles won the Olympic Trials after clearing 19'0¼", while Jeff Hartwig (18'8¼") and Brad Walker (18'6½") finished second and third, respectively.
