Young Falcons Look To The Future

Feb. 19, 2008

Lincoln, Neb. -- The rifle team failed to qualify anyone at the NCAA Qualifier at the University of Nebraska, shooting against Nebraska's "Scarlett" and "Cream" teams.

"There's no question that this has been a transition year for our team," said first-year head coach Launi Meili. "I am very pleased with the progress this team has shown throughout the season. With eleven freshmen comprising the majority of the team, we have made great strides towards being very competitive in the years to come."

Freshman Tom Chandler was the top scorer for the Falcons with a total of 1137 (556 smallbore and 581 air rifle). Junior Chelsea Welsh posted the best score on the women's side with a 1128 total (569 smallbore, 558 air rifle).

The team concludes it's season this Saturday against the University of Nevada-Reno at Reno.
